Tax Senior Vacancy

Based in Dunfermline, we are Fife’s leading Chartered Tax Advisers, with a reputation for providing top quality, tax and business services to a wide variety of clients.

We are looking for an experienced Tax Senior to join our team on a part time basis to assist with the various UK personal tax compliance needs of our diverse client base.  The successful candidate will play an essential role in both the preparation of UK self-assessment tax returns and the review of returns prepared by more junior members of staff.

You will have your own allocation of clients that you will have responsibility for organising, and also be expected to assist others in the UK tax team as required. 

Beyond the preparation of tax returns, you will also have the opportunity to assist with the UK tax advisory services we provide for our clients.  This can range from assisting with capital gains tax planning (and completion of capital gains tax returns) to advising on the most efficient level of pension contributions.

Working for us will provide you with an attractive starting salary (FTE £32k to £36k, depending on experience) and pension scheme.  We are also aways keen to support our staff in their professional development.

The role would be up to 30 hours per week on a hybrid basis and we do aim to be flexible in how this is achieved.

The Role

The main duties of the role will involve:

• Preparation of UK self-assessment tax returns for our high-net-worth clients and those with more complicated tax affairs.
• Preparation of capital gains tax returns.
• Reviewing tax returns prepared by junior members of staff.
• Corresponding with clients and HMRC regarding their tax affairs.
• Providing assistance to the rest of the team as required, including helping with the training and development of junior members of staff.

The Candidate

Our ideal candidate will be ATT Qualified (or qualified by experience) and have the following skills:

• Analytical with attention to detail.
• Excellent organisational skills, including the ability to plan and manage your own workload.
• A competent and clear communicator.
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Keyboard and IT skills, including experience of Office 365 and industry-specific software
