For a change, this week's 60 second interview contains no mentions of heavy metal music or Indian food.  It does, on the other hand, have a somewhat sporting theme

Name: Vivian Linstrom

Department: Tax

Job title: Tax Senior

Describe your work at M&S (in no more than three sentences).
My work at M&S consists of completing tax returns for high net worth clients, providing advice and assistance to client’s relation to their tax affairs and any tax planning required.  Reviewing junior members of staff work and helping them with their training.

Biggest influence on your career?
My first tax manager would probably my biggest influence as she was so patient with me and gave amazing guidance in the formative years.

What is your favourite place to go for a meal or a drink?
I am originally from Belfast and love the food from home, there so many places there that I love to go, especially Robinson’s Bar or the Drawing Room at the Titanic Hotel.

Favourite sports/leisure activity?
I love lots of sports, especially rugby, tennis, ice hockey and football.  Although I like to watch these sports I am not really the athletic type.

Favourite holiday (pre-pandemic)?
One of favourite holidays before Covid hit was to Florida for Christmas.  Spending Christmas day at Disney was an unforgettable experience.

Favourite holiday (post pandemic)?
My trips back to Belfast have been my main holidays since restrictions have been lifted, which have been amazing as I had to go 20 months without seeing my family which was hard.

If you were in charge of M&S for a day, what’s the first thing you would do?
If I was in charge for a day the first thing I would probably do is treat everyone to a bacon roll (or equivalent if they are vegetarian) and check if they had everything they needed to do their job.

Tell us something about yourself that would surprise us!?
Not sure if this is a surprise, when I was younger I used to follow football religiously and as a result of this I became the first female steward in the Irish league.  Apart from that there isn’t much that is surprising about me (the first female steward is pretty good though - Ed).
